David grew up working in his family's hotel, and it didn't take him long to fall in love with the industry. After finishing a diploma in sports science at Oxford College, he went to work in the local pub washing up. He was soon promoted to the front of house, where it became clear that this was the industry for him. In 2004, he moved to Barcelona to work in several busy cocktail bars, and after a year he decided to go to Ireland to study a professional bartender course and NVQ level 3 in hospitality and catering, whilst working in two 5-star hotels. After passing the courses, he travelled back to the UK, which is where his career started to take shape.
Jumping at an opportunity to meet Marco Pierre White, David managed to convince him to give him a job on the bar at The Yew Tree Inn. That was the start of a 9-year career working his way up through the kitchen and front of house to Operations Director overseeing the rebranding and opening of 12 hotels, pubs and restaurants.
Joining Peach in 2014 began another long stint at one of the best hospitality businesses in the country. In 2016, David was invited to become a partner in the business, and throughout his time oversaw operations across most of the 21 pubs, including new openings, refurbishments, improved concepts and strategy changes. Peach was sold in 2022.
